Details of class chalet on 31/1/08 to 2/1/09 ; 11:12 PM

Hey guys! Here are the details of the chalet you all have been waiting for. Please read through ALL sections. New Update (26/12/08).New New Update (27/12/08) New New New Update (28/12/08) New x4 Update (29/12/08)

Meeting Time & Venue:
Venue: Pasir Ris MRT station
Time: 1400 (2:00pm)

Please do NOT be late. We'll be catching their free shuttle bus so we will NOT wait for anyone who will be late. We might be meeting some one above 18 so that he/she can check in for us at the chalet. Please ask around to see who can be free to help us check in, then inform me. Thanks.

Food:
1st night - Pot luck
Contact Sin Zhi to inform her what food you'll be bringing. ONLY SMS.
She'll make sure there are no repeated food items. Please make sure the food is halal.
Please inform her BY 29/12/08.

2nd night - BBQ
Food items will be bought at Downtown East and/or White Sands on the actual day. No catering will be done.
You Sheng will take care of charcoal. Someone will help him. Who wants volunteer to help bring cheap charcoal? Please inform me. Who's free to help you sheng carry the charcoal? You Sheng not coming to chalet so we'll have to buy the charcoal and firestarter at Downtown East.

Please inform me if you are coming for the BBQ or we won't prepare your share!

Shopping List: hotdog, (marinated) chicken wings, satay, marshmallow, butter, honey.
Please inform me if I missed anything.
Added: Sweet potato, prawns
Sherry will bring (I think anyway) the BBQ set and items from our last BBQ just in case Costa Sand are unable to provide us with the BBQ gift set they promised.

Things/Places we might do/go:
Party on! Singapore! (Countdown party) @ Downtown East (Free)
Escape Theme Park ($8.80)
Wild Wild Wet ($15.50)
Beach (Just remembered that swimming not recommended at Pasir Ris Beach. Unless you all want go there play sand.)
Pasir Ris Park
Pool (Table)
(Swimming) Pool
Cycling
Kbox

Packing List:
1. Clothes to last 3 days and 2 nights or how long you going to stay
2. Toiletries (Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo etc.)
3. Towel
4. Shoes for playing and sandals/slippers for getting around easily
5. Socks (if you're wearing shoes)
6. Swimming Costume

Rational:
Shoes:
1. We may go around a lot of places (etc. Escape Theme Park, White Sands) so a pair of shoes will be good for walking.
2. It will also be good for cycling as the straps of the sandals/slippers may cut into your feet and cause injury.

Swimming Costume:
1. The swimming pool at the chalet only allows people wearing PROPER swimwear into the pool. So please at least bring along a swimming costume just in case.
2. We might be going to Wild Wild Wet/beach. We will be bringing back wet attire from there. Please do not wear extra top/bottom (i.e. clothes) as there will not be enough places to hang your clothes.
3. Furthermore, if you were to wear your undergarment underneath when getting wet, it will be awkward to hang it around for drying. Especially there are 2 genders (and a few slashes if you like) around the chalet and only 1 small bedroom. Swimming costumes are generally more acceptable.

Additional:
- Balls (to play on water/land)
- Frisbee
- Poker Cards (to build card houses)
- Mahjong set (to build mahjong houses)
- Gaming consoles (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii etc.)
- Laptop (for fun)

Do bring extra things that you think might be in use. If I missed out anything or there are any queries please ask me. Thanks!

Cost: Cost for chalet alone (everyone must pay even if you are not going) is $16/person. We'll try to keep the BBQ under $10 per person. The exact cost of BBQ will be out after the BBQ has ended.

- Kok Heng

Add-ons ; 12:56 PM

Hey guys! Add to that for BBQ. The caterer's website for the BBQ (there's only 1 choice as the resort doesn't allow other caterer) is here. The packages are here. We'll most likely be ordering the 20pax meaty package if we are indeed having BBQ and ordering the package from them. The menu for the separate food items are here.

The cost does not include a $5 delivery charge. And we need to use bank transfer to pay them 1 day before the delivery, which is quite troublesome. There's another way which is to buy them from supermarket but we will have to carry them ourselves. If you guys want BBQ please also state your preferences (eg. no beef, no mutton, no chicken, no fish, no vegetables or no food). Remember to reply! We need your replies asap! Stay tuned! Thanks!

chalet ; 10:39 PM

hey ppl
please reply this post either by sms or tag or another post in this blog
tell me if u wan a potluck or BBQ or both

For BBQ:
we will be getting a BBQ set from someone or sth
but its not a lot lah
so if u all wan to BBQ we nid to order other things
therefore, everyone need to pay at least 10 dollars more

For potluck:
everyone can bring some food from home lah
can cook or buy
but mayb some ppl will haf to buy food that are relatively more expensive den others
so mayb it will be a bit unfair for some ppl
and some ppl may forget to bring also
i dunno lah~
some more still nid to carry the food from wherever u are staying to dte
the food also nid to endure time from for a few hours
but i think this way will be cheaper for some ppl
and den i think parents will be paying instead of ourselves lah

So,
please reply asap by like 25th dec
so we can order for BBQ
or/and
decide who bring wat for potluck
Thanks! :)

Photos + Chalet! ; 4:14 PM

Hey guys! I've finally found a better server that host our photos for free. It offers unlimited uploads, no file size restrictions (meaning the photos uploaded there are as clear as the ones in the original format) and unlimited bandwidth. Best of all, it pays us! Every 1000 photo views will give us 22 cents (USD if I'm not wrong)! But the minimum amount inside the account before we can "withdraw" the money is $20. So we will need around 90k views to get the money out. That's just a bonus though. So just ignore that as I doubt it's possible to get that much views.

I've finally managed to upload all the pictures and you can now view our photos here! It will lead you to all the folders. New photos will be uploaded there as well. Anyone who has any photos to contribute please send it to me so that I can upload it there. If possible I'll still try to continue using the photobucket but this seems much better than that. Haha. Our current class folder will still remain in use for other documents. I've uploaded the class mailing list there as well so do grab a copy from there if you lost the one in your email. As usual, I'll post here if there's any updates in the class folder or the photos hosting websites.

For the class chalet, please throw in some ideas for the activities that you all might want to do. Sin Zhi suggest bring 15 packs of poker cards so that we can erm... build card towers. :D Now the problem is finding that many poker cards. Anyway, the check in time on 31st Dec is 2:30 pm and check out time on 2nd Jan is 10:30 am so we can plan things to do before and after check out etc. Note that we can check in before 2:30 pm to use their facilities, but not go into the room. There are BBQ area, swimming and wadding pool, 2 (American) pool tables, internet kiosk for free internet surfing and bicycle kiosk at the chalet. More information are here so check them out and think of the things that we can do. Pasir Ris Park and the beach is also nearby.

There are also many activities at Downtown East, including a countdown party on 31st Dec from 8pm to 3am so you guys might want to join in the party there. Free admission. More information on the events are here and more on the promotions there are here. So start thinking and give us your ideas. The most important thing is to save and bring money for the chalet. :P

For the dinner we can have 1 night pot luck and 1 night BBQ if you guys want. The BBQ (if we cater) will cost around $15 or more per person. Since the BBQ area (free) is just outside the room (or somewhere around there) and we might (not completely sure) be able to get a BBQ gift set (free) from the chalet, a BBQ might be possible with a lower price if we just buy the food ourselves from supermarket and charcoal from You Sheng. If there no BBQ gift set, we can just recycle the BBQ things from our last BBQ session. Shoot your comments away!

That should be all for now so start thinking! Someone will post again here when we have a conclusion for all the things or there are new updates. So go ahead and discuss! Meanwhile, enjoy our class photos here!

Creation Of Class Mailing List ; 8:05 PM

Hey guys! And if you're wondering, yes, we're back from Australia. Hehe. Anyway, please tell/send me your home address asap. We might need it to send out information in the near future. It's also good for staying in contact with each other through handwritten letters once we graduate from JC or when we won't get to see each other. I'll send 1 copy of our home addresses to everyone so that we can stay in contact with each other! Sounds nice? So please send it to me asap just in case I forget. Hehe. Thanks!

Oh and all students of 08S25 in year 2008 must send it to me. Please send it asap. And don't forget to check the blog from time to time.

Reminders~
Don't forget to do your homework! It's listed in the 7/11/08 post of this blog. Ms Toh's email is at toh_ee_hsia_eileen@moe.edu.sg and please email your inorganic chem assignment to her by (this) friday!

To post to here (our blog) please send your email to class08s25.(our college name without the JC and the brackets beside this pile of words)@blogger.com and it'll be posted up immediately. I think. It's been mentioned in the 16/11/08 blog post. If still not sure can ask bernard or SL rep. They are frequent users. Lol.

And echo whatever Sin Zhi said here about the class chalet. Send some of the ideas to do during the class chalet to me or Sin Zhi so that we can make a programme list for our chalet. Lol. The chalet was just booked so start planning since it's confirm we got the chalet.

The class CIP please also follow what our SL rep said wanted to do. Please be punctual. There'll be another reminder here again when the day is coming nearer. I think.

Please remember to get the class photos (official) from Sherry also when you're free. If you didn't take then we'll auction it off to someone on the streets. Lol.

Have fun with whatever you're doing! Enjoy your holidays! :D

Bukit Batok Home for the Aged CIP thingy‏ ; 1:42 PM

Hi, its me again, the SK for the SL/SK REP. Anyways, the date have been set on the 9th and 11th of Dec for the CIP thing. On that day, we have to come up with some special drawings(A in art??!!) to either hang on the wall or even paint on it directly. So for those good in art (haha, yes you), isit possible that you can come up wif any ideas? As for the deco, we may have to buy them (they dont supply) a few days b4 the CIP so we may nid to collect money from uall. Sry bout it.

Note: Since Sherry cant come on tt day, the prototype painting that she sent us have to be undertaken by someone else to paint on tt dae. Or isit possible that Sherry do that painting b4 hand so we just hung it up? What do uall suggest? Any takers?

; 6:28 PM

This will be the itinerary for the CIP:
9th December:
2p.m. Arrival at the Home
2p.m. to 4.30p.m Preparing and hanging up of the Christmas Decorations

11th December:
2p.m. Arrival at the Home
2p.m. to 4.30p.m: We will separate into two groups. One of them will be doing Gardening (the boys) while the other (the girls plus some boys) will be doing the mural painting.

As you know, we need to arrive at the Home at 2p.m. Hence, we will meet at Bukit Gombak MRT station at 1p.m. (Its the nearest Mrt station to the Home.) walking there wil take ages so 1h shld be enough.
Pls wear something with the sch logo on it

As ur know, we wil be doing mural painting and gardening. The home said we hab to gt the things ourselves, (the paint, brush etc).
I check the price, and the paint cost $2 for a single-colour small-tin one, which i tink will suffice. And the money, everyone might hav to pay $1..sorry ar ask ur come do cip still mus pay money.. : )

As for the brush, may i ask if anyone hav spare brushes at home?if hav pls inform me..then liddat need not buy new one, meaning dont need spend MORE money.
WE will go buy the paint only after doin the CIP on the first day of the CIP, so mayb we can go as a class as a class outin : )

Hope ur can attend this CIP!

P.s i spam the class blog like siao.sorry.bt this is more or less the confirmed schedule : )

ur SL cum (SK) rep.
